The Galaxy S21 Ultra offers better value than the iPhone 12 Pro Max

Is bigger better? If you ask smartphone companies — the answer is a definitive yes. Whether it’s Apple or Samsung, Huawei or Oppo, the trend has been to reserve the most premium specs, the most bleeding-edge components for the largest variant of its phones. The latest big thing right now is the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, and so it’s natural we pit it against Apple’s most recent biggest thing: the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Design and hardware

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max are both unapologetically huge phones, weighing 229g and 228g, with 6.8- and 6.7-inch screens respectively. But despite their heft, Samsung’s Galaxy S21 Ultra is significantly more comfortable to hold for me, because Samsung’s device features curves on both front and back, blending into a slightly rounded chassis, whereas the iPhone 12 Pro Max, like the rest of the iPhone 12 series, features flat sides with almost uncompromising hard edges.

I actually quite liked the boxy design of the iPhone 12 series when I tested them last fall — but only the other smaller iPhone 12s. The Pro Max, which measures 160.8 x 78.1 x 7.4mm (6.3 x 3.07 x 0.4-inches) is just too big and wide to have such hard corners.

iPhone 12 Pro Max and Galaxy S21 Ultra

The Galaxy S21 Ultra’s 6.8-inch screen also uses a narrower 20:9 aspect ratio to the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s 19.5:9, which further makes the Galaxy S21 Ultra a more comfortable phone to grip.

Speaking of screens, this is a lopsided victory for Samsung. The Galaxy S21 Ultra’s panel not only gets brighter, has more pixels, and refreshes at twice the speed, it also is mostly uninterrupted, with just a small hole-punch compared to the iPhone notch.

Software and special features

As we just covered in the design section, huge phones are harder to hold and use. So why do people put up with them? Two reasons: the ability to consumer entertainment content (games, videos) on a larger canvas, and the ability to do more in terms of productivity.

In both cases, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra completely beats the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max. The Galaxy S21 Ultra’s screen has fewer interruptions, so videos or games look better. Samsung’s also implemented a host of software features that allow the Galaxy S21 Ultra to take advantage of its larger screen, such as the ability to open apps in a floating window and to launch two pre-set apps simultaneously in split-screen view.

For the first time ever in a Galaxy S phone, the Galaxy S21 Ultra also supports the S-Pen stylus that has been a stable of the Note series. This, along with DeX functionality, makes the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra one of the most versatile devices in mobile.

The Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max, on the other hand, is really just a blown-up, super-sized iPhone 12 Mini. The UI behaves exactly the same on the Pro Max as on any other iPhones running iOS 14. You can’t open more than one app at a time, you can’t adjust the homescreen grid to place more apps on the homescreen.
Performance

It’s been a one-sided affair so far, but at least Apple can take solace in knowing it has the more powerful brain. Apple’s A14 Bionic outscores the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 in every benchmark, although in the real world, it’s really hard to tell the difference except when editing/rendering videos — the iPhone’s native photo gallery app allows me to not only trim videos but crop and rotate as well; no Android phone, including the Galaxy S21 Ultra, has been able to offer that.
Galaxy S21 Ultra and the iPhone 12 Pro Max side by side

Galaxy S21 Ultra and the iPhone 12 Pro Max

As a media consumption device the Galaxy S21 Ultra has a more immersive screen, but the iPhone 12 Pro Max has better stereo speakers that pump out louder, fuller sound.

Overall speed between the two devices is similar, although the Galaxy S21 Ultra often feels faster due to that higher refresh rate, but that’s mostly an illusion. App launch times on both phones are very close.
Cameras

When it comes to snapping “normal” photos with the main cameras, both the Galaxy S21 Ultra and iPhone 12 Pro Max are excellent. Shots day and night turn out sharp and vibrant, dynamic range almost always on point.

Picking a winner between the two main cameras almost comes down to subjective opinion and preference for colors — the Galaxy S21 Ultra tends to have a cooler tone, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max photos appear warmer.

If I have to nitpick, I’d say the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s main camera is easier to use because it feels more fluid. The Galaxy S21 Ultra’s main camera has a slight shutter lag — in the set of photos below, I pressed the shutter button on both phones at the same time, and the iPhone shot clearly shot first (like Han). If I need to snap a pic of a moving subject, I’d trust the any iPhone within the last few years over the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max also turns on night mode automatically and blends it into the photo-taking experience relatively seamlessly (it just turns on automatically in dimly-lit scenes) while the Galaxy S21 Ultra requires you to manually jump to night mode. Of course, users who want more control may prefer Samsung’s approach, which offers users more total control.

Moving onto videos, the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s main camera is also a bit better there: footage is ever so slightly more stable, especially at night, where the Galaxy S21 Ultra still suffers from micro-jitters whenever I walk and film.

All those wins for Apple just now are all from the main camera. Move to the zoom lens, and it’s a one-sided beatdown. The Galaxy S21 Ultra uses a dual-zoom system to cover various focal lengths. A 10MP telephoto camera captures 3x optical shots, while its 10x optical Periscope camera handles the longer zoom. The iPhone 12 Pro Max uses a single 12MP telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom. Below are two shots captured at 12x zoom, the maximum the iPhone 12 Pro Max allows.

Here’s another 12x zoom set.

Finally, here’s 5x zoom. The gap in quality closes, but it’s still a clear win for Samsung.
10x zoom, Galaxy S21 Ultra (left) and iPhone 12 Pro Max (right).

10x zoom, Galaxy S21 Ultra (left) and iPhone 12 Pro Max (right).

It’s much closer with the ultrawide-angle camera. Both phones use a 12MP sensor and shots look close in terms of field-of-view and sharpness.

When it comes to zooming, it's a one-sided beatdown.

Battery life

The Galaxy S21 Ultra’s 5,000 mAh battery is much larger than the 3,687 mAh cell inside the iPhone 12 Pro Max, but because the latter’s display has fewer pixels to push and refreshes at 60Hz, it consistently gives me better battery life than the Galaxy S21 Ultra. I’m a heavy user, so for me, Samsung’s latest routinely just barely makes it to the end of a 14-hour day (with around 10-15% battery left), whereas the iPhone 12 Pro Max usually finishes with at least 25% left.
Which one should you buy?

Both the iPhone 12 Pro Max and Galaxy S21 Ultra are super powerful phablets with a great main camera. However, the Galaxy S21 Ultra is in my opinion a flat-out more versatile device. If I really need to get work done, the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s superior filing system, ability to run two apps at the same time, stylus support, and option to double as a desktop computer just far outshines what the iPhone 12 Pro Max can do.

One may argue I should judge a phone as “just a phone,” and not factor in all these other usage cases such as Samsung DeX, but if I’m paying over $1,000 for a phone, I want to feel like I’m getting my money’s worth. And the Galaxy S21 Ultra is just a better value in my opinion.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is the ultimate overkill in the new 2021 flagship series, packing in a flagship SoC, a premium build, a great display, and an amazing camera setup, as well as all the extras expected on a premium flagship.

It offers an amazing camera system with superb low-light performance and Dolby Vision video recording. Galaxy S21 Ultra vs. iPhone 12 Pro Max: Price
Yes, Samsung has cut the price on its Galaxy S21 phones by $200 compared to the S20, but Apple still holds the pricing edge here. The iPhone 12 Pro Max starts at $1,099 — $100 cheaper than the Galaxy S21 Ultra's $1,199 cost.

However, it's less expensive to boost the storage on the Galaxy S21 Ultra, where upgrading to the 256GB version costs an extra $50. You need to pay an extra $100 for the 256GB iPhone 12 Pro Max. The 512GB Galaxy S21 Ultra is also cheaper than the equivalent iPhone 12 Pro Max — $1,379 versus $1,399.

Galaxy S21 Ultra vs. iPhone 12 Pro Max: Design

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra sports a new contour cut camera design that blends the camera into it glass back. It's a sleek look, but the Ultra is still a beast of a phone. At 6.5 x 2.97 x 0.35 inches and 8.08 ounces, it's taller, thicker and heavier than the iPhone 12 Pro Max, which measures 6.33 x 3.07 x 0.29 inches and weighs 8.03 ounces.
[*]I also prefer the flat edges of the iPhone 12 Pro Max to the curved sides of the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

The S21 Ultra comes in Phantom Silver and Phantom Black from carriers, but you can get Navy, Titantium or Brown through Samsung.com. Apple offers Silver, Graphite, Gold and Pacific Blue for the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max has an advantage in terms of durability and water resistance. The Ceramic Shield display on the iPhone is designed to offer four times the drop performance of its predecessor, and it has performed well in various drop tests. Samsung doesn't make any such claims for the Gorilla Glass Victus screen on its phone.

In addition, the iPhone 12 Pro Max has a higher IP68 water resistance rating of up to 6 meters, compared to 1.5 meters for the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The biggest strike against the iPhone 12 Pro Max is the display notch; the S21 Ultra has a small punch hole camera up front.
Winner: iPhone 12 Pro Max
Galaxy S21 Ultra vs. iPhone 12 Pro Max: Display

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has a few advantages over the iPhone 12 Pro Max in this round. For one, it offers an adaptive AMOLED display that can scale its refresh rate from 10Hz all the way up to 120Hz, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max is stuck at 60Hz. Having a faster refresh rate enables smoother scrolling and better performance in games that support it.
The 6.8-inch screen on the S21 Ultra is also a bit sharper than the panel on the iPhone 12 Pro Max with a resolution of 3200 x 1400, compared to 2778 x 1284. That's a difference between 515 ppi and 458 ppi.

Samsung keeps the winning streak going by registering a higher brightness on our testing. It notched a reading of 821 nits, compared to 654 nits for the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Apple's display did pull ahead with its color reproduction, reaching 84.8% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The S21 Ultra managed 81.4%.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra vs iPhone 12 Pro Max battle largely hinges on the cameras, and both phones are very well armed. The S21 Ultra packs four rear lenses, plus a laster autofocus sensor. There's a main 108MP camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera and dual 10MP telephoto lenses, one capable of 3x optical zoom and the other 10x.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max features a main 12MP sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide camera and a 12MP telephoto zoom lens with 2.5x optical zoom. There's also a LiDAR sensor that helps with low-light photography and portraits.
The cameras on the S21 Ultra and iPhone 12 Pro Max are both great, but they excel in different areas. The S21 Ultra wins hands down in zoom performance, because its lenses simply push further.

Galaxy S21 Ultra zoom at 10x, 30x, 100x (Image credit: Tom's Guide)
As you can see in this photo of lawn chairs across the street, the S21 Ultra gets you much closer to the subject than the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The 30x zoom shot is perfectly usable, but the 100x zoom shot is too fuzzy.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max image is decent at 12x zoom, but that's as far as Apple's cameras can go.
Samsung's shot of these green peppers looks shiny and delicious, but the produce looks even more vibrant in the iPhone 12 Pro Max photo. Apple's phone has the edge here.
I give the nod to the Galaxy S21 Ultra of trees. While both cameras deliver an impressive amount of detail in the bark and handle the shadows well, the S21 Ultra delivers more contrast and the trees pop more against the blue sky.

[*]Samsung says it has also improved the Portrait mode on the S21 by leveraging AI to better separate the subject from the background. The S21 Ultra delivers a great bokeh effect here. However, I slightly prefer the iPhone 12 Pro Max pic because of the warmer skin tone; the S21 Ultra blows out my face on the right side a bit.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra also performs quite well in low light, thanks to a faster Bright Night sensor and 12MP nona-binning technology for reducing noise reduction. In this comparison you can make out more of the stones and bushes in the foreground in the S21 Ultra’s photo. However, the colors in the iPhone 12 shot look more natural; Samsung's camera adds a gold/yellowish tinge in some cases.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max pulls ahead in this photo of a golden retriever. The S21 Ultra’s pic is overly bright and a bit washed out, while his fur his more golden and natural looking with the iPhone. The iPhone 12 Pro Max shot looks more realistic.
This one is really close, but the Galaxy S21 does a slightly better job here rendering the vegetables in this chicken stir fry meal. The peppers look a bit richer upon close inspection.
On the selfie front, I prefer the photo captured by the iPhone 12 Pro Max here. My skin looks warmer and the grass a bit greener in the background. The S21 Ultra photo is certainly sharp, though.
Winner: iPhone 12 Pro Max
Galaxy S21 Ultra vs. iPhone 12 Pro Max: Performance

The Galaxy S21 Ultra packs a fast Snapdragon 888 chip and 12GB of RAM, but it's still a step behind the iPhone 12 Pro Max in both synthetic benchmarks and real-world tests.
On Geekbench 5, the S21 Ultra notched 3,440 on the multi-core test and 1,123 on single-core. That’s behind the iPhone 12 Pro Max, which cleared 4,100 and 1,600.
The S21 Ultra performed fairly well on the 3DMark Wild Life graphics benchmark, hitting 34 fps. However, the iPhone 12 Pro Max averaged a higher 41 fps.
On our video editing test using the Adobe Premiere Rush app, the Galaxy S21 Ultra took 1 minute and 2 seconds to transcode a 4K video to 1080p. The iPhone 12 Pro Max’s needed only 28 seconds.
Winner: iPhone 12 Pro Max
Galaxy S21 Ultra vs. iPhone 12 Pro Max: 5G

Based on our testing thus far, the Galaxy S20 Ultra offers faster 5G speeds than the iPhone 12 Pro Max. On AT&T, and the S21 Ultra averaged 84 Mbps downloads, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max didn’t even break 37 Mbps.
In a different location on T-Mobile’s network, the iPhone 12 Pro Max hit 93 Mbps, while the Note 21 Ultra exceeded 160 Mbps. The Galaxy S21 Ultra does have a newer and more powerful X60 Qualcomm modem, so that could account for the performance delta.
Galaxy S21 Ultra vs. iPhone 12 Pro Max: Battery life

The Galaxy S21 Ultra makes full use of its 5,000 mAh battery, as the phone lasted a very impressive 11 hours and 25 minutes on our batter test. The iPhone 12 Pro Max endured for 10:53.
When we set the screen mode on the S21 Ultra to adaptive (120Hz), the runtime dipped to 10 hours and 7 minutes.
Neither Apple or Samsung includes a charger in the box, but both phones are capable of fast chaging. The S21 Ultra reached 56% in 30 minutes, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max only hit 47% in the same amount of time.
Winner: Galaxy S20 Ultra
Galaxy S21 Ultra vs. iPhone 12 Pro Max: Software and special features

iOS 14 brings a host of welcome features to the iPhone 12 Pro Max, including widgets on the home screen for easy access to info, including a Smart Stack of several widgets in one spot. And the new App Library feature automatically organizes your apps together by category.
Apple's software also delivers lots of helpful tweaks to messages, such as pinned conversations and inline replies. The design of iOS 14 is sleeker, too, with a more compact Siri and calls interface that stays out of your way. And if you own AirPods Pro, the spatial audio feature gives you a 360-degree sound experience.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra runs One UI 3.0 atop Android 11, and it brings some great additions of its own. This includes a wide selection of widgets you can access without unlocking your phone. The Quick Panel is now easier to customize get things done faster, and there are exclusive camera tricks like Director's View, which lets you use the front and back camera at the same time with recording video.
But the most unique special feature is S Pen support. The S21 Ultra has a digitizer for its display that supports S Pen input. You can buy a silicone case with S Pen combo for $69. The S Pen works well based on my testing, so it's great for taking notes and sketching, but it doesn't support Bluetooth.

Apple and Samsung have never been so close. The iPhone 12 Pro Max narrowly wins this face-off with the Galaxy S21 Ultra based on the strength of its performance and better overall image quality. The iPhone's design is also a little more durable and easier to handle with its flat edges.

However, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra gets the win in some important categories, thanks to its smoother 120Hz display, faster 5G and longer battery life. And while the S21 Ultra costs more up front, it's a bit cheaper if you prefer more storage.
No matter which flagship phone you choose in this Galaxy S21 vs iPhone 12 Ultra battle, you will not lose. And that's why these two phones occupy the top 2 spots in our best phone list.

Big Hotel Jobs New York get paid to travel earn $500 per day

New York has it all. There are famous landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, and Times Square. There are renowned venues for world-class entertainment, like the Broadway Theater District, Radio City Music Hall, and Carnegie Hall. Visitors can window shop on Fifth Avenue, New York's premier shopping area, and, if so inclined, make a purchase at one of the flagship stores of top designers like Cartier and Tiffany. There are famous museums and art galleries. And, of course, New York City has some of the world's finest hotels and restaurants.

Offering travelers from all over the world a glimpse of big city life, providing access to world-class food and accommodations, and hosting events and attractions that draw the attention of millions, the five cities we've just explored truly deserve their rankings in the top 100 most visited cities in the world.

That wraps up this brief look at five popular US destinations. If you haven't been yet, we hope that you get the chance to experience one or all of these awesome urban vacation spots.

Orlando is on most kids’ bucket lists, what with Disney World, Universal, and all. And yes, the activity-filled city is one of the world’s best destinations for theme parks. But there’s more to it than that. Whether you’re coming for Mickey and Harry or whether you’re after science and culture, Orlando is one of the best places to visit in the U.S. in 2020.

Let’s start with what’s happening at the theme parks in 2020. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Galaxy’s Edge will have its “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance” ride up and running, and in spring, “Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway” will open. Epcot is undergoing a major expansion; its confirmed openings for 2020 include a Mary Poppins attraction, a “Ratatouille”-themed ride, and a new nighttime spectacular called ”HarmonioUS.” A new Disney-themed Cirque du Soleil show is coming to Disney Springs in spring 2020, with tickets already on sale.

Over at Universal, a show called “Bourne Stuntacular” will debut, while Legoland has deemed 2020 the “Year of the Pirate,” with a new hotel and water show to match. Icon Park will debut two thrill rides, including the world’s tallest free-standing drop tower, plus Ole Red, a restaurant by country star Blake Shelton.

About 50 miles east of Orlando, the Kennedy Space Center will be celebrating Apollo 13’s 50th anniversary, and NASA’s Mars 2020 mission will launch out of Cape Canaveral in summer. Also in summer, the Orlando Science Center will debut a new exhibit called “Pompeii: The Immortal City.”
Related: Orlando Beyond the Theme Parks

In 2020 food news, Orlando is seeing fun eateries open over the course of the year: Camelo Pizzeria on International Drive will serve up Brazilian thin-crust pizza; Sixty Vines will turn out Napa-inspired seasonal cuisine in Winter Park; Norman’s is moving from the Ritz-Carlton to Restaurant Row; and chef Jérôme Bocuse’s La Crêperie de Paris will delight in Epcot’s France pavilion.

Where to stay: Orlando has the second-highest number of hotel rooms of any U.S. city, so there are plenty of options, with new properties popping up all the time. Two of 2020’s biggest openings include the JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort & Spa, set to open in March with 516 rooms, a spa, a pool and splash pad, specialty restaurants, and a rooftop terrace where guests can enjoy the theme parks’ nightly fireworks. Looking for a budget-friendly option? The 2,050-room, coastal-themed Dockside Inn and Suites will open in 2020 as the second wave of Universal’s Endless Summer Resort, with nightly rates starting at $76.

Goophone 12 Pro is the first of several iPhone 12 Pro clones that’ll hit the market soon

Apple is expected to hold a launch event today where the Watch Series 6 and iPad 4 Air are expected to be unveiled. The iPhone 12 isn’t likely to be launched until October but Chinese phone maker Goophone has teased the GooPhone 12 Pro, a clone of Apple’s next-gen flagship smartphone.[Image: goophone-12-pro.png]
The brand is notorious for releasing counterfeit clones of popular high-end smartphones such as the iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy S series. The phones are usually equipped with off-the-shelf chipsets from MediaTek. They also run on the Android operating system with customizations to the user interfaces who tends to make it resemble those of the devices they imitate.
The Goophone 12 Pro is no different. It has a quad-camera setup at the rear housed in a square-shaped module similar to what the iPhone 12 is expected to come with. The four sensors include a 48MP main camera teaming up with a 13MP, 5MP and 2MP sensor array.
The device is expected to feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED FHD+ display but the design doesn’t look like the iPhone 12. While the iPhone 12 Pro is expected to retain the notch design due to the 3D face unlock, this model features a punch-hole design. The punch-hole is located at he top left corner of the display panel and houses a 13MP selfie shooter.
On the internals, the iPhone 12 Pro clone is expected to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor paired with 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB UFS 3.0 storage. Here comes the twist, this hardware lineup places the phone in the flagship category. But traditionally, Goophone clones are cheap devices. For instance, the iPhone X clone dubbed Goophone Phone X was released in 2017. The device, which had significantly inferior hardware, was sold for around £80/$105 while the iPhone X retailed for $999. The same scenario played out for the iPhone XS Max. So, we are not so sure if the model will pack a Dimensity 1000+ chipset. The phone has to be cheap to make headway in the market.
However, the pricing and availability details are yet to be announced. The company has indicated that the model will be officially released soon, in China of course. The phone is currently listed on Giztop which means it may be available outside China.

The best iPhone 12 Pro Max deals for May 2021

[*]This week's best iPhone 12 Pro Max deals will help our readers score themselves a significant discount on one of the best - and most expensive - phones available right now. If you're looking for trade-in at one of the bigger carriers there are particularly strong options currently, and there's even an additional free device up for grabs right now at Verizon. If that's piquing your interest, then just down below you can see our recommendations for this week's best iPhone 12 Pro Max deals.

2. Mini-review
3. Compare carrier plans
Released back in November of 2020, the iPhone 12 Pro Max was part of the 'second-wave' of 12-series devices alongside the diminutive palm-friendly iPhone 12 Mini deals. Completing the line-up alongside the already-released iPhone 12 deals means there's now a 12-series handset for everyone, although we'd hesitate to call these budget devices by any stretch of the imagination.
At an introductory price of $1099, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is currently the most premium smartphone offering from Apple. Alongside an absolutely lavish 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display, it also features a huge array of excellent new camera features that are sure to make it the phone to beat when it comes to convenient high-quality photos and videos. It's also of course featuring Apple's latest A14 Bionic chip - its fastest mobile processor yet, and a gorgeous new squared-off aesthetic that features a stainless steel chassis backed with a new glass design.
Just below you'll find our top picks of iPhone 12 Pro Max deals to order alongside a more detailed deep dive into this brand new flagship. You'll also find a handy specs sheet, just in case you wanted to contrast and compare it against the 12 Pro or other leading devices.

Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max: buy one, get $1,000 off second, or $800 off with a trade-in at Verizon
This week's Verizon iPhone 12 Pro Max deals include not one, but two heavy hitters that can really cut your bills down. First up is the carrier's 'buy-one get-one' promo, which will give you a huge $1,000 discount on a second device when you purchase the first outright with a new unlimited plan. If that's not your thing, however, then you can instead up for a trade-in rebate of up to $800 off over 24 months - also eligible with a new plan.
Total cost: $399.99 (w/ trade) | Monthly cost: $16.66 (24 mo)View Deal

Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max: save $700 with an eligible trade-in and new unlimited plan at AT&T
AT&T's iPhone 12 Pro Max deals also focus on big trade-in rebates this week, although there's no bonus for switching (from what we can tell). Like other carriers, you'll need to be trading in a relatively recent device to get your full rebate here, and also buying your device with a new unlimited plan too.
Total cost: $399.99 | Monthly cost: $13.33 (30 mo)View Deal

Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max: save up to $900 with an eligible trade-in and new unlimited plan at Walmart
Walmart's iPhone 12 Pro Max deals might just be the strongest option all around this week if you're looking for a carrier device and don't happen to be trading in. Why? Well, the retailer is offering a flat $200 discount over 24 months on all carrier device purchases. Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max: save up to $800 with an eligible trade-in and new unlimited plan at Best Buy
Alongside Walmart, another big retailer that offers hefty trade-in rebates is Best Buy. This week its iPhone 12 Pro Max deals are competitive, but rather standard as far as maximum savings go. Sometimes Best Buy likes to offer additional rebates with activation, however, so it's worth checking in each week to see what's on offer.

If you're going unlocked, right now your best bet for iPhone 12 Pro Max deals is going to be directly from Apple itself. Like most big carriers, Apple runs a very generous trade-in program that can give you a discount for phones ranging all the way back to the iPhone 7, although you won't get that maximum saving unless it's a more recent device. Still, this is your best option for unlocked devices.

iPhone 12 Pro Max: specs

OS: iOS 14 | Screen size: 6.7-inch OLED| Resolution: 1284 x 2778 | CPU: A14 Bionic| Memory: 6GB | Weight: 228g |Storage: 128 / 256 / 512GB | Battery: 3,687mAh | Rear camera: 12MP dual wide/ultrawide/telephoto| Front camera: 12MP
So here it is, the biggest, meanest flagship device from Apple in 2020 - the iPhone 12 Pro Max. No surprises, Apple's pulled out all the stops with this eye-wateringly expensive phone but thankfully it's not just an iterative improvement on last year's iPhone 11 Pro Max.

As with all new 12 series iPhones, the iPhone 12 Pro Max features the new A14 Bionic chip and a rather fetching squared-off aesthetic that's more in line with the Apple devices of old than the previous 11 series. It's also rocking the new 'Ceramic shield' tech that promises a more shatter-resistant screen that's (apparently) four times tougher than previous glass designs. That's a nice little addition when you consider you'll probably want to keep this insanely expensive phone in tip-top condition.
Perhaps the most marked upgrades in the 12 Pro Max is found within its lavish triple array of rear cameras - which easily make this the top choice for phone snappers right now. According to Apple, the 12 Pro Max has a sensor that's 47% larger than the previous 11 Pro Max, which equates to a whopping 87% increase in low-light performance. The 12 Pro Max's telephoto lens also features a 5x zoom, as opposed to the 4x on the standard iPhone 12 Pro.
Alongside aft-mentioned iPhone 12 Pro, the 12 Pro Max now also features a brand-new LiDAR scanner (for depth sensing, portraits and augmented reality apps), and also supports HDR video and Dolby Vision up to 60fp. Both of these new flagship devices are looking like fantastic options for avid videographers and photographers alike, if you can afford the hefty price tag that is.
